Nurse T’s Body Bar was founded by Teberah Alexander; a long-time nurse and entrepreneur renowned for her combination of compassion and inspirational teaching style.

Having graduated from Michigan State University in 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Teberah spent the early part of her career serving patients in the Labor and Delivery, Cardiac, ICU and Long Term Care Units. She later established Compassionate Home Care Services, a company dedicated to supporting older people whose health needs were otherwise ignored. Discovering a passion for improving the quality of life for dementia patients, she became a Certified Dementia Practitioner and established Kathelene’s Adult Day Care Center in memory of her grandmother, Kathelene.

Teberah has built an impressive career and is widely regarded as an expert in nursing and adult social care. She formed Nurses Who Care to help like-minded people become exceptional nurses and forge successful careers in the healthcare industry. Some of Nurse T's Other Secret Formulas consist of Excelling Nursing Academy, Caregiving Staffing Solutions, Kathelene's Senior Village, and now Nurse T's Body Bar.

Teberah is a member of the Michigan State University Alumni & Black Alumni Associations, Michigan State University Association, Michigan Nurses Association and has served on the board of Michigan State University College of Nursing Alumni Association. She is also a proud member of the professional minority nursing sorority Chi Eta Phi Inc. and the loving mother of Amiya Alexander, President of Amiya’s Mobile Dance Academy and NYU alumni.

What is body contouring?

This is a treatment that permanently eliminates a portion of targeted fat cells without the need for surgical intervention. Our  services are for men and women who struggle to reach their fitness goals and/or who need a little help to get over the finish line.

Body contouring in most cases is referred to as nonsurgical fat reduction. There are several methods of performing body contouring, but they all share the same end result: a permanent decrease in the number of fat cells in the treated area and more refined physical contouring.

How does body contouring work?

Body contouring works by using heat, cold, or other methods to damage fat cells. The best way to understand body contouring is to think about how your body stores fat.

You have thousands of fat cells throughout your body, most of which lie in a layer just beneath your skin. Those cells have an astounding ability to expand and contract to accommodate more or less fat.

Body contouring works by destroying the structural integrity of your fat cells. Once the cells are destroyed, the cells can no longer hold accumulated fat. The  fat drains from the cells and the cells collapse. Your lymphatic system is responsible for releasing fat and cellular debris, excreting it from the body.

Once a fat cell is destroyed, it's gone for good. It will not regenerate, and the treated area will simply have fewer fat cells.

Is body contouring a weight-loss treatment?

While body contouring does decrease the total number of fat cells in your body, it isn't an effective way to lose weight. That's because your remaining fat cells can still expand if you consume more calories than you burn.

Nurse T has the “Secret Body Formula” offers state-of-the-art treatments that improve the appearance of cellulite and tighten your skin, both common concerns among men and women who've lost a significant amount of weight.

What is cellulite?

Cellulite is referred  to as dimpled, lumpy sections of skin. Doctors believe skin develops this appearance when fat cells that live just below the surface of the skin push themselves into the outermost layer of skin.

Cellulite is  common, especially in women. Over 80% of all women experience cellulite at some point in their life. Cellulite is often found on your buttocks and thighs, but it can develop in other places, too.

There’s no exact cause of cellulite, but you’re more likely to develop it if you:

  • Eat excess amounts of salt, fat, and carbohydrates

  • Don’t exercise

  • Stand/Sit for long periods of time during the day

  • Overweight

  • Smoke cigarettes

  • Over the age of 25

Please note you don’t have to be overweight or unhealthy to have cellulite.
